Concrete & Robotics: Rethinking Material Use in Construction

On March 14, 2023, I had the pleasure of hosting a panel discussion as part of Changing Our Footprint – an exhibition at Aedes Architecture Forum in Berlin, dedicated to exploring sustainable solutions in architecture and construction.

The discussion, titled Concrete & Robotics, centered on how we can transform concrete to make it more Earth-friendly and how robotics can support more sustainable construction methods. By leveraging technological explorations and digital fabrication of custom-made concrete structures, we can achieve significant material savings and unlock new architectural opportunities—often at lower costs than traditional construction methods.

Panelists

  • Dr. Christoph Gengnagel – Professor at UdK Berlin; Partner and Director at Bollinger+Grohmann

  • Troels Dam Madsen – Associate Design Director – Digital Practice, Henning Larsen

  • Maria Wyller – Architect, David Chipperfield Architects Berlin
